Terms of Service — VaultDream

LAST UPDATED · 31 AUGUST 2026

Effective date: August 31, 2026

VaultDream (“the app”) is a mobile application published by Zero Jump Apps, LLC (“we”, “us”, “the developer”). These Terms of Service (“the Terms”) are the agreement between you and the developer covering your use of the app.

By installing or using VaultDream, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree to them, do not use the app.

1. Summary

VaultDream is a private dream journal that runs on your device. There is no account, and your journal is never transmitted. The one thing that can be sent off your device is a recording made with the optional cloud dictation feature, which is off unless you turn it on and is described in section 5 and in the VaultDream Privacy Policy. Your journal is yours, we never see it, and we cannot recover it for you if it is lost.

The three things that matter most in this agreement: keep your own backups (section 6), exported files are not encrypted (section 7), and the app is a journal, not a medical or psychological service (section 8).

2. The licence we grant you

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use VaultDream on devices you own or control, for your own personal, non-commercial purposes.

This is a licence to use the app, not a sale of it. All rights not expressly granted to you are retained by the developer.

3. What you may not do

You agree not to:

  • Copy, sell, rent, lease, sublicense, or otherwise distribute the app itself
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app, or attempt to derive its source code, except to the extent applicable law expressly permits this despite this restriction
  • Modify the app or create derivative works based on it
  • Remove or obscure any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notice
  • Use the app for any unlawful purpose

4. Your journal is yours

Everything you write in VaultDream belongs to you. The developer claims no ownership of it and no licence to it.

Because your journal is stored only on your device, we never receive your entries and have no ability to read, moderate, retrieve, or restore them. We do not review journal content, and nothing in these Terms gives us any right to it. What the app stores and where is described in the VaultDream Privacy Policy.

5. Cloud dictation (optional, off by default)

VaultDream can turn speech into text in the dream editor. By default it uses your device’s own speech recogniser, and the audio never leaves your device.

Cloud dictation is a separate setting and a separate thing entirely. It is off unless you turn it on, turning it on takes a confirmation, and turning it off takes none. By switching cloud dictation on you accept these Terms as they apply to it.

With it on, a recording you make in the dream editor is sent to our transcription service, which uses Google Cloud Speech-to-Text to convert it to text. The text comes back to your device and the recording is deleted. In practice:

  • Only the recording is sent, along with the language you are writing in. Your dream text, titles, tags, characters, dates, ratings and everything else in your journal are never sent. No account, user ID or device identifier is attached to it, because there is none.
  • Neither we nor Google keep it. The recording is held in memory for the length of one request and discarded, and we log no audio and no transcripts. Google Cloud Speech-to-Text does not log audio or transcripts unless a customer opts in to its data-logging programme, which we have not and will not.
  • Recordings are capped at one minute per field.
  • Turning it off stops it. Switch Cloud dictation off in Settings and nothing is sent from then on.

Transcription is offered on a best-effort basis. We do not warrant its accuracy or its availability, and we may change, suspend, or withdraw it (section 13). Section 10 applies to it in full.

The VaultDream Privacy Policy describes the same feature from the privacy side; where the two documents describe it, they are meant to say the same thing.

6. Data loss — read this

VaultDream stores your journal in the app’s private storage on your device and nowhere else. There is no cloud copy. This is a deliberate privacy decision, and it has a direct consequence you must accept in order to use the app:

If you uninstall the app, clear its data, lose your device, damage it, or if its storage fails, your journal is permanently gone.

We cannot recover it. There is no copy anywhere for us to restore from, no account to sign back into, and no support request that can undo it.

You are responsible for maintaining your own backups using the app’s export feature, and for keeping those exports somewhere you will still have access to them. We strongly recommend exporting regularly if your journal matters to you.

7. Exports are not encrypted

The app’s export and backup files are plain, human-readable JSON. They are not encrypted and not password-protected.

Once you export a file, it leaves the app’s protected storage and you are solely responsible for it — where you save it, who you send it to, and whether it stays private. If you place it in cloud storage, email it, or share it, it becomes subject to that service’s practices and outside our control.

Dream journals can be deeply personal. Treat an export as you would any other sensitive plain-text document.

8. Not medical, psychological, or therapeutic advice

VaultDream is a journal and a record-keeping tool. It is not a medical device, not a diagnostic tool, and not a substitute for professional care.

Nothing in the app — including any statistic, pattern, tag, chart, trend, or lucidity or nightmare marker — constitutes medical, psychological, psychiatric, or therapeutic advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and none of it should be relied on as such. The app makes no clinical claim about sleep, mental health, lucid dreaming, or anything else.

If you have concerns about your sleep, your dreams, recurring nightmares, or your mental health, consult a qualified professional. Never disregard or delay seeking professional advice because of something in this app.

9. App lock

The app offers an optional PIN lock. If you enable it, only a salted hash of your PIN is stored, in your device’s secure storage. The PIN itself is not stored and is never transmitted.

This means we cannot recover or reset it. If you forget your PIN, the remedy available to you is to clear the app’s data or reinstall it, which deletes your journal. Choose a PIN you will remember, and keep an export.

The app lock is a convenience barrier against casual access to your device. It is not a security guarantee against a determined attacker with physical possession of an unlocked or compromised device. Your device’s own lock screen and encryption are the real protection.

10. No warranty

The app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the developer disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free, that it will work on every device or operating system version, that exports or restores will always succeed, or that data will not be lost.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the developer will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of journal data, loss of exports, disclosure of an exported file, or emotional distress, arising out of or connected with your use of or inability to use the app, however caused and on any theory of liability.

Where liability cannot be excluded, the developer’s total aggregate liability to you for all claims relating to the app is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for the app (which, for the free version, is zero) or USD $10.00.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of certain damages. Where that is the case, the exclusions and limitations above apply only to the extent permitted. Nothing here excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or wilful misconduct (dolo), or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Under the law of Puerto Rico, an advance waiver of liability for fraud or wilful misconduct is void, and Puerto Rico consumer protection law limits how far warranties may be disclaimed in a consumer transaction. Sections 10 and 11 are to be read subject to those limits, and are severable under section 16 to the extent they exceed them.

12. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the developer from any claim, demand, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) brought by a third party and arising from your use of the app, from content you record in it, or from your breach of these Terms.

13. Stores, updates, and availability

If you obtained VaultDream from Google Play or the Apple App Store, your use is additionally subject to that store’s terms. These Terms are between you and the developer only; the store operator is not a party to them, is not responsible for the app, and has no obligation to support it.

We may release updates, change features, or add, alter, or remove functionality at any time, and may stop distributing or supporting the app without liability to you.

14. Termination

You may end this agreement at any time by uninstalling the app. Export first if you want to keep your journal.

This licence ends automatically if you breach these Terms. Sections 4, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, and 15 survive termination.

15. Governing law, venue, and language

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, United States, without regard to its conflict of law rules, and by applicable United States federal law.

Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the app will be brought exclusively in the Court of First Instance of Puerto Rico, San Juan Judicial Part, or in the United States District Court for the District of Puerto Rico, and you consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.

Nothing in this section prevents you from bringing a complaint before the Puerto Rico Department of Consumer Affairs (Departamento de Asuntos del Consumidor, DACO) where that agency has jurisdiction, or from exercising any right under Puerto Rico consumer protection law that may not be waived in advance.

If you are a consumer resident in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction whose law gives you the protection of your local courts and mandatory consumer rules, nothing in this section removes those rights.

Language. Spanish and English are both official languages of Puerto Rico, and VaultDream is offered in more than one language. These Terms are issued in English, and the English text governs their interpretation. Any translation is provided for convenience; in the event of inconsistency the English version prevails, except where applicable law requires otherwise.

16. General

These Terms, together with the VaultDream Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and the developer concerning the app.

If any provision is held unenforceable, it is severed and the rest remains in force. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a transfer of the app or the business.

17. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the app changes. The “last updated” date above will be revised. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not accept them, uninstall the app.
