Privacy Policy — ShadowHerd Trails
- Effective date: 18 October 2026
- Application: ShadowHerd Trails for Android (
com.zerojumpapps.shadowherdtrails)
This policy explains what information ShadowHerd Trails (“the game”) handles, why, who it is shared with, and what you can do about it. The game is made by ZeroJumpApps, LLC (“we”, “us”).
1. What stays on your device
The game saves your progress in a file on your phone:
- the stars you have earned on each level, and the reserve you last played;
- the species you have discovered for the Herd Book;
- which tutorials you have completed;
- your settings: sound effects, music, vibration and reduced flashing.
This file never leaves your device and we never receive it. The game does not take part in Android’s backup to your Google account, so it is not copied there either. Uninstalling the game, or clearing its data in Android settings, deletes it.
There is no account. The game never asks for your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos or location.
2. Crash reports
When the game crashes, it uses Firebase Crashlytics (Google LLC) to send us a crash report so we can fix the problem. The report is uploaded the next time you open the game. It contains technical details only: the stack trace, your device model, Android version, the game’s version, free memory and disk space, whether the game was in the foreground, and a random installation identifier created by Crashlytics.
A report does not contain your name, contact details or your saved progress. Crash reports are kept for 90 days.
3. Advertising
The game is free and is supported by ads from Google AdMob (Google LLC). It shows only ads that you choose to watch:
- “Show the way”: after a level has beaten you twice, you can watch an ad to see the route.
- Extra ink: when you run out of ink, you can watch an ad to continue with more.
Declining costs you nothing else, and no ad is ever shown in the middle of a level. Ads in the game are limited to content suitable for a general audience (Google’s “PG” rating).
To serve, cap and measure these ads, and to prevent fraud, AdMob may collect and process:
- your device’s advertising ID or app set ID;
- your IP address, and an approximate location derived from it;
- general information about your device;
- your interactions with ads (views, taps) and ad performance.
Where the law requires consent (in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland), the game shows Google’s consent form when it first starts, before any ad is requested. Where US state privacy laws apply, it shows Google’s notice that lets you opt out of the sale or sharing of your data. You can change your choice at any time from Settings → Privacy options in the game; the button appears wherever such a choice applies. If you do not consent to personalised ads, you may still be offered non-personalised ones.
Google’s use of this data is governed by its own policies:
4. What we do not collect
- No accounts, names, email addresses or phone numbers.
- No precise location. The game does not request location permission.
- No contacts, photos, files, camera, microphone or call data.
- No analytics or behavioural tracking SDK. The game does not include Google Analytics or any comparable product.
- No purchases. The game contains no in-app purchases.
The only permission the game itself asks Android for is vibration. The advertising SDK adds the advertising ID permission (AD_ID).
5. Why we use it
| Data | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Saved progress and settings | To remember your stars and preferences. Stays on your device. |
| Crash reports | To find and fix defects. |
| Advertising data | To fund the game’s development. |
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it to build a profile of you.
6. Who it is shared with
Crash reports and advertising data are processed by Google LLC, through Firebase Crashlytics and Google AdMob. We share nothing with anyone else, and we do not sell personal information.
7. Your rights and choices
Advertising. Change your consent choice from Settings → Privacy options in the game. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of ad personalisation, in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads (on some phones, Settings → Google → Ads).
On-device data. Uninstalling the game, or clearing its data in Android Settings → Apps → ShadowHerd Trails → Storage, removes everything listed in section 1.
Access and deletion. Depending on where you live, you may have rights under the GDPR, the UK GDPR, or the CCPA/CPRA to access, correct or delete personal data, and to object to its processing. Because the game has no accounts, the only data that leaves your device is linked to random device identifiers, not to you by name. Email us (section 12) and we will help, including passing a deletion request on to Google where needed.
The steps for deleting your data are set out in full at https://zerojumpapps.com/legal/shadowherd-trails/deletion/.
Legal basis (EEA/UK). We rely on legitimate interests for crash reporting, and on your consent for personalised advertising.
8. Children
ShadowHerd Trails is intended for a general audience aged 13 and over. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through the game, contact us (section 12) and we will delete what we can identify.
9. Security
Crash reports and ad requests travel over encrypted connections to Google’s servers. Your saved progress is stored in the game’s private storage, which other apps cannot read.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. International transfers
Google processes data on servers that may be located outside your country, including in the United States. Where required, these transfers rely on the safeguards Google maintains, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
11. Changes to this policy
If the game changes what it collects (for example, if an iPhone version, other ad formats or a “Remove ads” purchase are added), this policy will be updated first and the effective date at the top revised. Significant changes will also be noted in the game’s release notes.
